Children & Women
Development
Empowering Potential. Strengthening Futures.
Overview
Creating Opportunities for Growth and Development
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, discover their strengths, and develop the confidence to shape their future. Women, too, should have access to opportunities that enable them to build skills, overcome barriers, and realize their potential.
PFEN Foundation’s Children & Women Development programme addresses these needs through community-based initiatives designed around the realities of the people we serve. From educational support and talent development to mentorship, skills development, and empowerment, we create pathways that help individuals grow and communities become stronger.
Our Mission
Helping People Discover What Is Possible
Our mission is to improve the well-being of vulnerable children and women by creating access to education, personal development, mentorship, economic opportunities, and community support.
We work alongside communities and partners to provide practical opportunities that promote dignity, resilience, self-reliance, and sustainable impact.
How It Works
From Potential to Possibility
Our approach is community-driven and focused on identifying needs, discovering potential, and connecting people with meaningful opportunities.
01 — Identify
We engage with communities to understand challenges and identify children and women who can benefit from targeted support.
02 — Develop
Through education, creative activities, mentorship, skills development, and other interventions, we help participants build knowledge, confidence, and practical abilities.
03 — Empower
We connect individuals with opportunities and support that encourage self-reliance, personal growth, and greater participation in their communities.
04 — Sustain
We work toward solutions that create lasting value and strengthen individuals and communities beyond individual interventions.
“When people are given the opportunity to discover their potential, they can become powerful catalysts for change.”
— PFEN Foundation

Community Empowerment
Change Begins Within the Community
PFEN Foundation believes sustainable development starts with listening to and working alongside communities.
Our programmes are designed to encourage participation, build local capacity, and create opportunities that respond to real community needs. By engaging children, women, families, schools, community members, and partners, we help build stronger networks of support and create an environment where individuals can thrive.
We don’t simply work for communities. We work with them.
Our Impact
Reaching Communities. Nurturing Potential.
Through our community-based programmes across Lagos and Ogun States, PFEN Foundation has created opportunities for children and young people to learn, explore their talents, develop confidence, and participate in creative and educational activities.
Some highlights include:

Success Story
From Learning Under a Bridge to the Classroom
In 2024, PFEN Foundation implemented a six-week Out-of-School Education and Child Development Programme for vulnerable boys and girls living under the Magboro Bridge in Ogun State.
The programme provided basic support in English literacy, communication, and numeracy, creating an opportunity for children who were outside the formal education system to learn and develop essential skills.
One of the meaningful outcomes of the programme was the securing of scholarships for some participating children, giving them an opportunity to access formal education.
This experience reinforced PFEN Foundation’s belief that access to the right opportunity can become the beginning of a different future.
